Tuning, Capo & Tuner

First-class tuning and capo on every song, auto-detected when you import chords — with a built-in mic-based tuner one tap away on the Perform screen.

Tuning and capo as proper fields

Every song now carries a structured tuning (low-to-high, one note per string) and a capo fret — not a free-form tag, not a scrap in the notes. On the add/edit screen, a wheel picker sets the six strings with quick presets for Standard, Drop D, Double Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, Open D, Open E, and Half-step down. A segmented chip row sets the capo fret from none up through the neck.

If you had tuning or capo info in your tags from before 3.6.0, Song Hive migrates it into the new structured fields automatically on first launch — no cleanup needed.

Auto-detected on import

Import chords from a URL and Song Hive reads the tuning and capo straight out of the page. Paste an Ultimate Guitar link for a tune in DADGAD with a capo on 2 and the imported song lands with the tuning wheel already set to D-A-D-G-A-D and the capo chip on 2. No more mentally swapping C# major for what the tab says is "C" because the capo is two frets up.

Filter the library by tuning or capo

On the song list, the filter sheet now has a Tuning section and a Capo section alongside content, tags, and practice. Need every song you play in Open G? One tap. Planning a set where you only want to move between songs in standard tuning with a capo on 2 so you can leave the guitar alone? Two taps. The filter count shows exactly how many songs match as you narrow it down.

Read-only pills on the Play page

Once a song has a tuning or a capo, they show up as small coloured pills on the play page — above the chords, where your eyes already are when you pick up the guitar. A glance tells you whether you need to re-tune or move the capo before you start the song; no opening the editor, no going to the tags.

The tuner, right where you need it

Launch the Perform screen for any song and a tuning-fork icon sits in the header. Tap it and a mic-driven tuner slides up from the bottom — pitch-detection runs on-device, shows the cents deviation on a live needle, and tells you at a glance whether you're flat, sharp, or locked in. The tuner automatically targets the song's tuning, so if the current song is in Drop D the tuner's showing you D-A-D-G-B-E strings; tap any string to focus it, or let auto-detect pick the nearest note.

No ads. No subscription. No jumping out to a separate app when you're already on stage with your set list open.

Synced across your devices

Tuning and capo travel with every song through iCloud — edit them on your iPad at home and they're on your iPhone at the gig. Shared .songhive files carry them too, so when you AirDrop a set list to a bandmate their copy lands with the right tuning and capo on every song.
